How To Join The Texas Striper Association
If you are interested in joining The Texas Striper Association (TSA), please download, and send in
your completed
Membership Application Form
with your $35.00 Annual Membership Fee. TSA Tournaments are open
to everyone and you are not required to be a TSA Member to compete in the tournaments.
TSA Rules and Regulations
- Each Team / Participant Must Have Fun
- ELIGIBILITY - Texas Striper Association members pay a reduced entry fee. Each contestant must hold a
valid Texas fishing license or lake license (if applicable). There is no limit as to the number of
contestants in each boat; however the Captain must comply with all State boating regulations. MEMBERSHIP
FORMS AVAILABLE AT REGISTRATION.
- FEES and REGISTRATION – Entry fee is $100 per boat for TSA Members / $135 per boat for Non-TSA Members.
On-site registration will be as posted. No registrations will be accepted after the official starting
time of tournament. All persons aboard a competing boat must be registered with tournament officials.
- OPTIONAL BIG FISH POT - An optional $20.00 per Team will be collected at registration for the Big Fish
pot. This is a side pot and is separate from the main competition. Only those participating in the Big Fish
Pot will be eligible to win the pot contents. This big fish pot is 50% pay back and 50% to year end Big
Fish.
- TOURNAMENT HOURS – Tournament starts at 6:00 am with a Captain’s meeting at the registration site to
discuss the tournament rules and answer any questions, there will be a 1min late 1 pound deduction from
total weight at weigh in for being late, disqualified for no-show. Captains will be released immediately
following the meeting. An orderly release of boats or a weather delay may be required by the Tournament
Director to ensure safety. The Tournament will end promptly at 3:00 pm.
- WEIGH-IN LOCATION - Weigh-in will be at the registration site there will be 1 min late 1 pound
deduction from total weight in the event of being late for weighin.
- TIES - In the event of a tie, the payout for the position that is tied and the next position down
will be split equally between the two teams involved.
- FISH - All fish remain the property of the contestants, and are subject to inspection by TSA
officials. Fish submitted at the weigh-in must be ‘fit for the table’,i.e., they must have red gills,
clear eyes, and firm flesh.
- POLYGRAPH – A polygraph test may be given to the winners. Contestants who refuse to take the polygraph
will be disqualified and forfeit their entry fees. Failing the polygraph test will result in disqualification
and possible suspension from future TSA events. In the event there is a contest of a team. It will be done
way from contestants and crowd and only brought to the tournament director.
- PROTESTS – All protests must be submitted in writing to the tournament director within 10 minutes of
the end of the weigh-in. The Tournament Director will then consult with participating TSA officers prior to
making a decision. The decision of the Tournament Director is final.
- Meeting Attendance - Failure of a team representative to attend the Captain’s meeting will disqualify that Captain and his boat, there will
be a 1min late 1pound deducted from your total weight.
- Boat Inspections – The Tournament Director, at his option, may have boat inspections performed
during the Captain’s Meeting.
- Culling - Any fish kept in possession for more than one minute cannot be culled or released. Any fish that does not swim away
immediately upon release must be kept. Fish kept alive by any means are considered in possession.
- Equipment & Lake - Fish must be taken on rod and reel only. Live or artificial baits are permitted.
Fish must be caught in the tournament lake, on the tournament date, and only during tournament
hours. Bank fishing is prohibited.
- All contestants must wear Coast Guard approved life jackets any time the boat is moving faster than
trolling speed.
- Pre-Tournament Practice – lake is open.
- Weigh-In - The Captain of the competing boat must weigh in the boat’s fish. All captains must be in
line by 3:00 pm. A maximum of two fish per competing boat may be brought to the weigh-in site to be
considered for the cash prize winnings. The tournament scale shall not be used to cull fish. There
will be 1 min late 1 pound deduction of total weight.
- Personal Conduct and Sportsmanship – Contestants will conduct themselves in a manner that reflects
positively on the Texas Striper Association, its sponsors, and its members. All local, state, and
federal laws and regulations must be obeyed. Possession or use of alcohol or illegal mind altering
substances during tournament hours is prohibited. Failure to comply will result in
disqualification.
- The decision of the Tournament Director regarding these matters is final.
