The Texas Striper Association would like to thank Mike Oser of
MoesTackleShop.com. Mike Oser
has been gracious enough to help sponsor the TSA and provide the trophies for the tournaments.
Most if now all of the fish caught today with artificial lures, were caught with lures provided
by MoesTackleShop.com.
The Texas Striper Association would also like to thank Rick Taff of
Lake Granbury Marina. Rick Taff provided the facilities for the Captain's Meeting and
the weigh-in.
Lake Granbury Marina has outstanding facilities and great food in their restaurant. They
have an incredible dock to park your boat while you stop for food.
The 1st TSA Tournament of the 2011 Season was held on January 29, 2011 on Lake Granbury.
There were 10 teams that participated in this first tournament of the season.
The fishing on Granbury has been excellent with good fish being caught over the last few months
and the tournament was no exception. Most of the teams caught and weighed in fish, and there were
several nice fish weighed in.
The weather for the first tournament of the season was vastly different from the 1st tournament
in 2010 on Possum Kingdom. It was fairly cool in the morning, but warmed up to the upper 60's by mid-day
with "blue bird" skies. Additionally, from early morning to around 11:30, there was no wind
at all and then 5 - 10 mph winds picked up for the remainder of the day.
It was Team Striper Sniper that took the top honor of 1st Place with a total weight of 12.9 pounds,
followed closely by 2nd Place Team Sharc Bait with 12.76 pounds with Team Shearwater finishing 3rd
with a total weight of 11.08 pounds. Congratulations to Team Striper Sniper for winning the first
TSA 2011 Tournament Trail Tournament!
The fish caught in the tournament were caught in a variety of ways. Several teams such as
Team Striper Sniper and Family Style fish solely with lures, Dead Sticking. Others such as Team
Shearwater used live bait (Shad) and also did some dead sticking while another team used cut bait.
Most if not all of the fish were caught on the south end of the lake in an area known as Sand Point
in water depths ranging from 20 - 45 foot.
Come on out and join us for the next TSA Tournament on Lake Whitney on February 19, 2011. It is going to be a good one! Lake Whitney has produced double digit Stripers in the last 4 tournaments and hopefully will do the same on February 17th 2011.
Looking forward to seeing everyone next month on Lake Whitney on February 19, 2011.
Here Are The Final Results Of The Lake Granbury January 2011 TSA Tournament. Congratulations To Everyone!
